September 7 was special not only for Apple but all those who had been speculating about the specs and the features along with millions of Apple iPhone lovers. Apple unveiled iPhone 7 and iPhone7 Plus. Both phones are available for pre-order now. Let us have a look at iPhone 7 Plus price, specs and features.
iPhone 7 Plus Specs and Features
Well, the launch might not have meet all our expectations but still Apple has tried to fit in new features, and it is the iPhone 7 Plus which is better of the two phones. To sum up, the iPhone 7 plus is fitted with stereo speakers, there is no headphone jack, is water and dust resistant, dual camera, longer battery life. Of all, the dual camera technology is “the” feature that makes it a must buy.
Design
Well, Apple calls it a “new design”, but it draws clear inspiration from 6s and 6s Plus. There are five colors – Gold, Rose Gold, Silver, Matt Black, and Jet Black. Jet Black is glossy and replaces Space Grey. Apple has however, made clear that Jet Black is more prone to scratches and smudges. The antenna no more protrudes out and moreover, camera housing is made from metal, so the outlining appears seamless.
Dual Camera
One wide-angle 28mm lens and the other telephoto lens 56mm lens makes for the dual camera. When you switch from wide angle to the telephoto lens, you will get an optical zoom of x2 that can go up to x10.
f/1.8 aperture, Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS), true tone flash with four LEDs (two for warm and two for cool) allows for more light to come in. As per Apple, the camera is 30 percent efficient and 60 percent faster than 6s Plus. The front camera is 7MP that comes with color capture and auto image stabilisation.
Water and Dust resistant
iPhone 7 Plus is IP67 rated. There is an upper rating IP68 that comes with Samsung Note 7. The rating means that it is totally dust proof and you can take it underwater up to 1 metre depth. However, liquid damage is not covered in the warranty.
No Headphone jack
The rumour was rife and it is now confirmed that there is no headphone jack. There is now a lightning port that can be used for power or headphones. The pack contains EarPods, but those who still want to continue using earphones, there will be an extra adapter in the box.
AirPods
Apple has also launched wireless earphones named AirPods. Its IR sensors are intelligent enough and will know when they are in the ears. Accelerometer sensors will judge when you are talking. They come with external mics for noise reduction. Apple says that each Airpod have a battery life of 5 hours which further gets enhanced with 24 hours from the wireless case that comes along.
Apple has priced the AirPods at £159 and will be available from late October.
A10 Fusion Quad core processor
Apple has always been at the forefront whenever processor performance comes into play. This time with A10 processor, it is the most powerful processor of the world today. A quad core CPU where two cores are for high power and the remaining two are for efficiency, the 64-bit A10 chip is 40 percent faster than the previous A9.
As for GPU, the six-core chip as per Apple is 50 percent faster than A9. However, on the battery front iPhone 7 Plus gives its user just one hour extra battery life than 6s Plus.
Speakers
There are stereo speakers this time around for the first time. They have a dynamic range and are in landscape orientation.
New Home Button
Home button gets a major uplift and it is now more responsive, and customisable. A force sensitive button, it comes with a Taptic engine and there is no more push and click involved.
Screen
The new things that make the iPhone 7 Plus a notch higher than the 6s Plus is the wide color gamut as iPad Pro 9.7 and 3D Touch. The screen is the same 5.5-inches with full Retina HD display. Apple claims that iPhone 7 Plus screen is 25 percent brighter though.
How much will the iPhone 7 Plus cost?
There are three storage models in which iPhone 7 and 7 Plus are launched- 32GB, 128 GB and 256GB. Jet Black comes only in 128 GB and 256 GB. Price for the 32 GB variant starts from £719. All the major UK mobile operators Three, EE, Vodafone, O2 etc. have launched various iPhone 7 Plus contract deals to lure the customers.
