Instapaper for Android becomes the newest iOS-turned-Android applications to find its way into Google Android devices. The app will be available in Google Play for $2.99 (the iOS version is worth $3.99) and will be functional on handsets running on Android 2.1 or better.
To be developed by Mobelux, creator of Tumblr for iPhone andAndroid, Instapaper will let users save Web pages offline for future reading when there is no access to data or Wi-Fi networks. The app is ideal for long articles and blog posts you may come across but cannot read during that time. It allows saving the website as text-only with adjustable fonts, text size, line spacing and margins.
With Instapaper, you can automatically download new articles whenever a user enters or leaves locations such as their home or workplace. The release of the app comes in the heels of the iOS app receiving an upgrade. Instapaper will only store the location within itself and will not share or send them to any web service.
Instapaper creator Marco Arment was influenced to develop an Android version of the app due to the success of the Amazon Kindle Fire & the Barnes & Noble Nook saying that the Instapaper is a tablet app first and Smartphone second.
Compared with the iOS version, Instapaper for Android will not have the Friends feature as well as what’s popular reading on Instapaper. There is also no Web Search option as well as Full Screen. Automatic article syncing will also not be available in the Android version but updates are expected to make it competitive with the iOS version. The app comes with a dark mode and brightness control for night reading.
Another major difference with the iOS version is that the status bar and two to three menu bars will be visible at the top of your screen, depending on whether your handset has navigational buttons. Likewise, Instapaper allows sharing on just about any app or social network. You also have the option to choose the email client for mailing an article.
To be able to use all these features, you need to sign up and log-in to your Instapaper account. Upon signing in, you can easily synchronize your folders and bookmark articles from any supported device.
The Settings screen allows easy management of your Instapaper profile and configures the settings. You can bookmark a maximum of 500 articles and archive a maximum of 100.

Wow that was odd. I just wrote an incredibly long
comment but after I clicked submit my comment didn’t appear. Grrrr… well I’m not writing all that over again.
Regardless, just wanted to say fantastic blog!
I almost never leave a response, however I looked at a few of the remarks here Instapaper Launching Android App » Geeky Edge | Technology & Web News. I actually do have 2 questions for you if it’s allright. Is it simply me or does it give the impression like a few of the comments come across like they are left by brain dead people? 😛 And, if you are posting on other online social sites, I’d like to follow everything new you have to post. Could you post a list of every one of all your public sites like your twitter feed, Facebook page or linkedin profile?
Thanks for beneficial ideas and basically very good information.
